Gear4 Shuffle Station [£35]
Gear4 Shuffle Station is the only speaker system that's specifically designed for the smallest member of the iPod family, and - like the Shuffle - it's tiny and cheap.
It's a basic, no frills set-up with fair build quality, offering both a line input/output and USB port. Th latter can be used to charge the Shuffle when it's not in use, but charging and playing at the same time leads to unwanted sonic interface.
Instead, to connect your Shuffle, you invert it, plugging the headphone output into the jack on top of the main unit. Now the controls are reversed, so to skip forward you press the left-facing arrow button, not the right - it's easy to get confused and takes some getting used to the Gear4 Shuffle Station.
Pros
- Very cheap
- Fully portable
- Decent set of features
Cons
- Looks tacky when in use
- Doesn't sound great
- Can't charge and play simultaneously
Verdict
Gear4 Shuffle Station is an affordable option for Shuffle owners.
