Logic3 i-Station [£60]
Logic3 i-Station stands out among the cheaper systems on the market with room for an integrated speaker. The dock comes with no fewer than six different adapter cradles, which caters for all iPod models, including the iPod Photo.
It can also act as your main docking station and you can also synchronise your iPod via the USB 2.0 or FireWire inputs and charge it at the same time. Portability isn't a problem, either, since it takes four AA batteries.
And that sub does give you slightly more boom for your bucks. Sound quality is enjoyable, and there's definitely extra bass solidity over the Gear4 system. You get reasonable detail, and punching the '3D' button does result in a more lively presentation. However, despite an increase in quantity, the quality isn't quite there.
The i-Station doesn'y cost much, and it delivers music in a perfectly harmless manner. Though the sound could be better, it beats that of the cheapest systems.
Pros
- Affordable
- Fine selection of useful features
- Fully portable
- There's decent bass kick
Cons
- Delivery could be clearer
- A remote control would be nice
Verdict
For the money, the Logic3 i-Station is a decent attempt at providing a stereo/sub solution.
