CyrusLink LinkDock [£70]

This CyrusLink LinkDock is a tasty-looking bit of kit, but its smaller sonic serving is suited most to one or, at a push, two listeners. The reason for my caveat stems from the fact that the laws of ohysics mean it'll never deliver a performance on a scale to match that from, say, the larger Kensington unit. And its maximum output of 4W points towards a 'smaller' sound.

However, the sound might be modest, but it's of excellent quality. Though not actually built by hi-fi guru Cyrus, the British company tunes this CyrusLink unit, and the result is a sound packed full of audiophile-pleasing characteristics. The LinkDock delivers excellent detail, with a decent dose of pace, so for its price and size I can't complain.

Extras include a dinky remote, plus a line-in that'll accept non-Apple players, and there's also a selection of iPod adapters for the main dock. There's no battery option, but this machine is small enough for you to pack both it and the power supply, without worrying about an excess baggage charge.

Pros

  • Compact with neat looks

  • Detailed and clear sound

  • Includes remote control

Cons

  • Small size restricts overall scale and loudness

  • Uses mains only

Verdict

The CyrusLink LinkDock is modest in volume, but this cute-looking, Cyrus-turned dock delivers quality.
